To all of my friends around this planet,
I pray you had a good week, and that you are happy.
Please read the other 5 archives of this series before proceeding.
My 10 month old puppy is learning how to obey:) She's Labradoodle/German Shepard mix, and she is very energetic!:-) She likes to watch the chipmunks and rabbits in the yard! Of course she tries to chase them, but is stopped by the end of the leash! She is bound by a long leash, not to restrict her from happiness, but to protect her and others. If she were to run loose, she could easily get hit by a car or stolen.
God has a set of principles in His law, not to restrict or burden us, but to protect us and those around us. It gives us freedom from many heartaches we would experience if we ignored it's principles and commands. It's helps us to experience true love, the love of God first, and love to those around us.
In Luke 2:14, the angels that arrived to announce the birth of Jesus the Messiah to the shepherds sang, “ Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” They were announcing God's law. The first 4 commandments are about a relationship to God(glory to God in the highest), and the last 6 commandments are about loving those around us(peace on earth, goodwill toward men).
Before Adam and Eve sinned, they kept the law of God perfectly, and it was counted to them for righteousness. After they sinned, they could no longer keep the law of God perfectly. Their sinful nature was embedded in them, just as it is in us. Jesus came to restore His law, His character and will, His image, in humanity. That is the new covenant, Jesus upholding His law and keeping it perfectly for us, restoring His character, His righteousness in us. Jeremiah 31:33 says, "33 But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people." There is no way His law can be done away with, as it is part of His character that He embeds in us.
The law of God has been the foundation of God's throne for eternity. Psalm 93:2 says, "Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting."
Here are comparison scriptures, comparing God's character with His law:
God's Character
2Samuel 22:31
As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven;
He is a shield to all who trust in Him.
God's Law
Psalm 19:7
7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple;
Proverbs 30:5
God's Character
Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.
God's Law
Psalm 19:9
The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes;
God's Character
Deuteronomy 32:4
He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
God's Law
Psalm 19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of the LORD are true and
righteous altogether.
God's Character
Psalm 99:5 says God is holy
Deuteronomy 32:4 says God is just
Psalm 52:1 says God is good
God's Law
Romans 7:12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.
These are a few of the comparison scriptures.
In Exodus 33:19 God said to Moses, “I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you." In Exodus 34:18.19 God says, "And Moses said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory. And God said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy. Names in the Bible means character. Jacob means deceiver, Isaiah means laughter, and so on. God's name is His character, and in Exodus 33 God told Moses He was going to proclaim His name, and then He started quoting part of the 10 commandments, and then He gave Him the 10 commandments written by His, God's own finger, in stone! In Revelation 14:1 it says, " having his Father's name written in their foreheads." In the forehead means in the mind. God's character was written in them.
In the next and last part of this series, I will share Steve Wohlberg's 10 fast facts about God's law.
Remember, this is what the battle is over, God's law, the foundation of His throne. There is suffering in this world because of sin, which is transgression of God's law, and God is NOT going to let it go on forever!
